I only went to one seminar, and I regret not going to the one with Robin D Laws about his new Hillfolk game which I've invested in as a Kickstarter. I'm still toying with investing in the Guide Indeed, the host James Wallis wrote The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen and is in many ways a godfather of the indie scene*. All the UK RPG publishers produce games which are to a greater or lesser extent “indie” in style or tone. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially when considering the virtues of its default, skirmishy play style but at the same time it loads quite a bit of preparation onto the GM and players. However, I sat down for a game with a cool GM who pulled this out of his bag and handed each of us a scantron-style record sheet, a short pencil, and “Control-authorized dice”.
